Huggums

Lily Jane has a doppelganger in Huggums, my childhood doll:

Huggums was given to me by my aunt Trisha when I was a newborn, and somewhere there exists a picture very similar to this one of me with Huggums. Linda made the adorable matching gowns for the two (and there are matching caps as well, but then we'd miss the fabulous hair!), and I love how similar they look in them -- from the round cheeks to the rosebud mouths to the monkey hair.  So sweet!

Winning

So I thought about making this a "Separated at Birth" installment, but that just seemed too mean... but if I DID, it would include a picture of this guy:

...next to a picture of Tate.

But since I would never post a picture of maniac Charlie Sheen on my son's blog, I will just explain that Tate's new obsession is "winning." And by "winning" I mean beating me to the car, beating other cars at stoplights, being the first to get to the kitchen table, etc, etc.

At church a few weeks ago the pastor called for the children to come down for the children's sermon. Tate sprinted to the front, turned around with his fists in the air and yelled "I win!"

He also gets upset when someone passes me on the highway. He says "Mommy, that car is now winning! You need to go faster!" and he says this in a very authoritative, irritated tone.

I've used this to my benefit as well. When trying to get a picture of Tate with his cousin Blake, only Blake would smile. So I said "Blake is winning at smiling for the camera." Instantly, we had a smiling Tate.

I must admit he comes by it honestly. I'm told that when I was the same age, my mom was teaching me how to dress myself and I asked her "How do I win at this?"

So I really can't fault him. Duh...winning!

Separated at Birth?

John Wayne's sidekick Gabby Hayes is the inspiration for Tate's sideways hat stylings. Tate was dressed up for a night out with the grandparents in historic Western-style Grapevine.

Now I understand the stock market issues...

The front page of the USA Today business section shows what appears to be Rob on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

Check out his profile pic on his blog to see the similarities.

Curls and Teeth

Not much new to report, so thought I'd share some pictures of Tate's curling hair and crazy teeth.

Frat boy! Check out the curls behind his ear.

Tate's two front teeth haven't come in yet, but the ones to either side have, giving him a vampire look. I tried to find a non-creepy picture of Dracula to do a "Separated at Birth" feature, but alas, Dracula just doesn't look right next to my sweet boy. But once those teeth come in a little more, he may be ready for a "Separated at Birth" with this guy:

Separated at birth II

I have decided to make "Separated at Birth" a regular feature of the blog. Thanks to postdodson (aka my parents) for sending in this week's entry!

Tate and Spanky say "That'd be swell!"
