Lessons from Mom

I can’t wait until Tate starts talking so I can share all of the little silly conversations we have. Until then, there’s my Mom…

Me: We keep forgetting there is a Fireside Pies restaurant in Grapevine. We need to go back there.

Mom: (wrinkles her nose)

Me: What’s wrong with Fireside Pies?

Mom: They’re just so LIBERAL.

Me: Huh? What makes a restaurant “liberal?” (I’m imagining posters of Democratic presidents... A wall of books...Intellectual games to play while you wait for a table...)

Mom: Oh, you know, they use SUN-DRIED TOMATOES. You know what I always say, the more sun-dried tomatoes a place serves, the more liberal the place is.

So there you have it folks. Just in case you were wondering.

hmmm...ok, so does it make me liberal that I was SHOPPING for sun-dried tomatoes the other day?? Didn't even know where to look for them...considered sun-drying my own tomatoes...

Angie, you are definitely a hippie communist!! How could you bring such things into your home?!? It all starts with sun-dried tomatoes and the next thing you know you're starting a nudist colony and doing drugs.

Jenny also dislikes sun-dried tomatoes...I'm outing her. And the only restaurant I've been in that had intellectual games to play is Cracker Barrel (golf tee IQ game at the table) and they are HARDLY liberal. And I've NEVER been in a restaurant with a wall of books unless you count the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble. And Jenny can't start a nudist colony until her poison ivy rash clears up. I'm just sayin...

yikes, poison ivy...ouchie wow wow...yeah, I know...thankfully, no drying of the sun-tomatoes or sunning of the dry tomatoes are going on...rest assured!

I detest sun-dried tomatoes, and I'm as liberal as they come. Great story about your mom.
