Tate Loves Maracas

Tate's favorite toys, by a mile, are the maracas I got in San Antonio. He has a whole basket of toys to choose from, and he usually picks the maracas. The other day I heard their rattling getting closer...and closer...and I knew Tate must be crawling with them. Here he goes from room to room, never letting go of the maracas...

Shake, shake, shake...shake, shake, shake...don't shake your baby. Don't shake your baby.

Yes Sarah, you get the idea. I actually edited out the part of the video where I was singing "shake it, shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture..."

Listening to myself ruined that song for me for life.

Next purchase: The Leap Frog maracas! They have one that only shakes with the traditional sounds. Then, the other one shakes and--like all baby toys--speaks in Spanish or English...counts numbers...reviews colors...or makes BOING noises. Way fun.

First of all, your carpet is pretty. Second, is your bed made and a lovely lamp shining in your room? We only turn the lamp on when company is coming over. Third, Tate is cute and better keep his hands off Pieface if he knows what's good for him.

So, you go into another room and see if Tate can keep up? Sometimes I go and hide in another room too to see if Landon can find me. I might have to try the maracas--that would add a fun twist.

BTW-- I would have to say NOT to get the Leap Frog maracas. I had them and took them back b/c they don't have their colors straight. They teach the word "Naranja" for orange--and it is an "Orange" as in a FRUIT. The word for the color is "anaranjado." It bugged me so much that I took them back and I was trying to tell the girl what the problem was at BRU but she clearly didn't care. I think all she heard was "wa, wah, wah, wah, wah...BLAH."

I think observation skills run in your family, Rebekah. It's so funny you pointed that out about the bed and lamp because when Rob looked at it last night he said "wow, the bed is made in this video" and this morning NAN called and said "um, your house never looks that clean" ... I've been outed. We had maid service that day. I tried to clean the house myself for a few months and let's just say my domestic skills are lacking. And by "lacking," I mean that the maid I hired had to tell me that the "Swiffer" is not a mop. (She asked me where I keep my mop, and I showed her the Swiffer. She just shook her head and wrote something down in her notebook.)

I love maid service. It is my luxury. I didn't have it this summer because we are poor when I don't bring in my big $400 a month salary as preschool director. Sooo, needless to say, I am reallly looking forward to going back to work in a couple weeks so someone else can clean my house.

OH!!! And I LOVE that KJ took back the maracas for inaccurate color words. I had learned that naranja was the word for orange not that other one. That word must have been invented after I learned me some spanish.
